 Social:
Xing, though usually a man of few words, is far from introverted. He's perfectly comfortable talking to anyone, and finds himself bored whenever he's alone. He loves his job because he can work the front counter and be able to interact with many people and encounter so many unique personalities. Xing finds himself fascinated by the different types of people that he gets to see on a daily basis (both at school and at work) and tries his best to appear in good favor in their eyes as well. Xing can deal easily with friendly teasing and mild flirting, and is the type of person to match his behavior with the person he's talking to in order to make them feel more comfortable, meaning that he he may flirt back even if he didn't necessarily feel any sort of attraction to someone. Xing likes to tell jokes often in order to make people feel more comfortable around him. He doesn't want to be someone that people go out of the way to avoid, though he knows that's not always possible.

Industrious | Ambitious:
He works hard every day to make everyone proud: his friends, his family, even himself. If something is expected of him, he strives to accomplish the task in the best way he can, making sure to leave little room for failure. Raised with having high expectations from his parents, Xing grew to be a very ambitious, passionate and goal-oriented person. Once he sets his mind to something, it's very hard to deter him. While this makes it so that he finishes many personal projects and work-related jobs in the best way he can, it also means that he's prone to neglecting others during his free time, choosing to devote his time to his hobbies rather than friends sometimes. It's easiest for him to achieve his goals if he has the support of others. However, this also means that he's more likely to try harder if something is expected of him rather than if it is of his own accord.

Practical:
Though he makes sure to enjoy everything he does, he likes to take very logical approaches to his actions as well, afraid of improvising and potentially making a mistake. He has a solid grip on his emotions, and knows how to separate his private life from his professional life. Xing believes that having one's emotions involved in their work could cause people to have a harder time making decisions or acting hastily and making a mess of the situations they find themselves in.

Materialistic:
Xing is never in lack of money, but prefers to save as much as he can in order to spoil himself and his loved ones at later times. He can also be described as materialistic in a sense, thinking that he can buy other people's affection by showering those he really cares about with gifts. He's not one to blow off money quickly, and is likely to judge those who do, labeling them as irresponsible and wasteful in his head. Additionally, he concerns himself a bit too much with appealing to people on a superficial level, even relying on his groomed appearance to make himself appear of a higher status than others. 

Inflexible:
Unless faced with authority, Xing finds it hard to stray from his preferred methods to try another, especially if it has a high risk of hurting him financially. In his opinion, it doesn't make sense to fix something by taking a risk, especially if the thing in question doesn't seem to need improvements in the first place. This applies more to his work than for this hobbies, however. When it comes to something that doesn't put him at too much of a financial risk, he's more willing to try out new things such as creating a new intro for his and Hotaru's videos or taking a more creative approach during school projects.

Sensitive | Anxious:
Despite the air of confidence he gives off, he's also very easy to tear down, causing him to not take well to criticism when he feels it's undeserved.  Since he didn't grow up in Japan at first, he's afraid of messing up socially and being left alone, making him somewhat of a perfectionist in everything he does. He'll change his behavior from person to person in order to fit in better. Therefore, when someone still finds fault in him, he tends to either feel ashamed in himself, or will try and defend himself even if he knows he's in the wrong.

Judgmental:
Sometimes Xing is prone to quickly making judgments on people based on their appearance. If they look to be a delinquent or someone otherwise unpleasant, he may in turn be less willing to engage in conversation with them. While he's not the type to completely avoid people based on their beauty or social status, he is unfortunately the type to view himself as higher than them if they don't seem as rich or well-groomed as him. First impressions stick strongly with him, so having a bad one could greatly affect one's chances of getting to know him. Once someone has gained his trust and respect, however, he proves to be a very loyal friend and would never look down on them for the superficial aspects of one's life.

Egotistical:
If he ever gets into a bad conflict with someone, Xing is the type to let his confidence in his appearance, status, intellect, and talent get in the way. Xing would be the type to try and shoot down another's argument simply by giving the impression that he's too good for them. He's the type to say something along the lines of "Are you really arguing with me?" as a way to end an argument if he doesn't respect the person he's talking to. If he does, though, he's more likely to listen the other person out.

▌ H I S T O R Y

Xing was born in Taiwan as the only child to his parents, who were both relatively successful in their business endeavors. He was able to live a comfortable life in Taiwan for many years. His outgoing personality and academic prowess gained him many friends in school. His parents were very supportive of his hobbies since he did well in his classes, so they bought him a piano when he was young so he could pursue his love for music. Ever since then, he began to hone his musical skills whenever he could, first learning how to play the piano then following up by making simple compositions once he was comfortable enough. He'd show off his pieces whenever he could and would be praised highly for them. (No one had the nerve to criticize a naive little boy, after all.)

He became increasingly comfortable with his lifestyle then. Xing had good grades, many friends to play with at school, and a talent for music that he could actually be proud of. Everything seemed to be going well for him until he was ten-years-old.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Xing's father suddenly announced that he was offered a job in Tokyo thanks to his connections with his friend there. The Ichinose family was also relatively prominent in the business world, and Xing's father saw it as a good opportunity to make his family's life even better. In less than half a year after the announcement, Xing felt as though he was stripped of everything. He could no longer use his native tongue. There were no familiar faces. He even had to leave behind his beloved piano to make the move.

It was hard for him to adjust to his new life. Xing went from being a star student to being a student that had to repeat a grade. The language barrier made it extremely difficult for him to learn properly in his classes, so he failed many of them. He also became significantly more quiet, afraid to mess up while speaking to others and making even more of a fool of himself. Even so, he was always rather good at math because the language barrier couldn't come between him and the numbers. It was because of this that he decided early in his life to pursue a job that relied on numbers more than anything. He had to completely drop his interest in music for a while though so that he could catch up on his academics.

While Xing's parents worked, he would go to the Ichinoses' home to do homework and also spend time with their son, Hotaru. The boy was rather loud, and Xing at first didn't take well to being bombarded with hard-to-understand words. But he soon warmed up to the kid, and soon they each helped each other learn each other's languages. Xing began to practice his Japanese and English with Hotaru, while he taught Hotaru some Chinese since he seemed interested. With Hotaru's help, he was able to return to being one of the top students again within the next  few years. It was during this time of bonding that Xing began to share his love for music with Hotaru as well, and they both began to work on music together.

In his last year of elementary school, there was a group project in which students from various grades would be randomly assigned to plant a tree. Luckily for him, he was paired up with Hotaru, but there were now also many new people that were all younger than him. Xing remained rather quiet around them, choosing to observe rather than interact with them at first. After spending more time with them, however, they all grew to be rather close. Best friends, even. He found himself speaking up more and telling jokes to them to make them laugh. Even after he left them all in elementary school during his transition to middle school, he was able to retain his connection with them all due to Hotaru.

When Hotaru had to leave him for a long period of time, Xing switched to going to Tamato's house after school instead. It was then that he became closer to Tama and his family. His mother Ai was always patient with him and made him feel welcome despite his fear of the language barrier. Xing grew attached to her and even viewed her as another parent in some way. Even after Hotaru returned from Europe, he spent a lot of time with her since Hotaru was acting rather odd. Other than hanging out with him for recording sessions and school-related talks, Xing preferred to avoid Hotaru so that he could avoid the nagging feeling that his old friend was hiding something from him. It frustrated him.

Regardless, Xing continued on with school like normal, refusing to let his emotions get the best of him. It was important that he get into a good college, after all. That was the most important thing of all for teenagers like himself. He had known that since he was a little boy in Taiwan. In the end, Xing succeeded. Though he wasn't top of the class like he had hoped, he still made it into his first choice university and was ready to pursue a degree in business, following in his parents' footsteps.
